Humidity

I'm mad about mist, if you mist me regularly I'll love you forever!

Light

I can handle a little shade that's thrown my way, but I prefer to be in bright, indirect sunlight.

Watering

Everything in moderation is my motto, so I like to be watered little but often, keeping my soil moist.

Top tip

Named after it's one-of-a-kind patterned stems, the Zebra Plant goes through hibernation in winter, so don't give up on it if it looks slightly dead.

About Zebra Elephant Ear

The Zebra Elephant Ear has elephant-ear-shaped leaves and stripes on its stem, resulting in it's unusual name. The distinctive yellow and black stripes mean it's also called Zebrina Tiger.

Luckily, Alocasia Zebrina care isn't as complicated as its name. This tall, sun-loving plant is low-maintenance and part of our unkillable indoor plant range. Like most tropical perennial plants, the Southeast Asian Zebra Elephant Ear likes it hot (18-22°C) and humid. Water them little yet often, keeping the soil moist, and pop them in a bright spot without any direct sunlight. This helpful house plant is air-purifying, but be sure to keep them away from little Pricklettes (animals or children) as they are toxic to them.

Over or under watering can make them sad, but luckily they will tell you! Yellow spotting means it's been overwatered, while brown leaves are under watered or scorched from too much direct sunlight. If your plant pal still seems under the weather, don't panic! The Zebra Elephant Ear likes its beauty sleep and hibernates in the winter.

When it's not sleeping, the zebrina alocasia is a fast grower and can get up to 1.5m. We think this indoor plant looks best and thrives in your kitchen or bathroom! Grow more Zebrina by taking cuttings and propagating them in water until their roots grow a few inches.
