Top tip

The Rubber Plant's name comes from the latex in its stems. If you break a leaf, be careful as the sap can cause irritation to your skin.

About Robusta Rubber Plant

Impress your friends with the Ficus Robusta houseplant. Not only will it wow them with its good looks, but you can also show off your plant know-how with this fun fact about it. The Ficus Robusta is more popularly known as a Rubber Plant because of the sap it produces 30% of the world’s rubber! Be careful though, while the latex from its stems is useful for rubber production, it is irritable to the skin and toxic to children and animals.

If their big, shiny, beautiful, green leaves don't already sell you on buying one, Rubber Plant care is lovely and low-maintenance too. The Ficus likes bright, indirect sunlight, however, they can tolerate a small amount of shade too. Watch out though, too much shade can cause their leaves to droop. Originally from South Asia, your Robusta will be happy pretty much anywhere in your house as long as it is nice and warm (16-24°C).

You may want to make sure it has a reasonable amount of space too as this tall yet slow-growing plant can reach 3m. Water them regularly, mist them on occasion, and wipe them regularly to keep them looking and feeling gorgeous!
