Top tip

The Ponytail Palm stems store a lot of water, so don't worry if you forget to water it for a week or two (we won't tell on you).

About Ponytail Palm

The Ponytail Palm is the forgetful Pricklettes dream. Having originated from hot and humid Mexico where it rains infrequently, the Beaucarnea Nolina has evolved to store water in its stem - so it doesn't mind if you forget to water them for a week or two! This low-maintenance indoor plant rarely needs watering at all, only when its soil is dry.

The Nolina plant likes to be kept warm (17-22°C) and in a humid environment. To avoid their leaves browning, give them a regular mist if they aren't in a bathroom or kitchen. As a sun-lover, keep your Ponytail Palm in bright, indirect sunlight.

Interestingly, the Ponytail Palm Tree isn't actually a palm or a tree at all, it is a succulent from the agave family. It earned its name from its resemblance to a palm tree and because its long, hair-like leaves look like a ponytail!

Although they can grow to be a whopping 2.5m tall, they are slow growers, so you don't need to worry about them drastically changing overnight. This unique and beautiful plant not only looks amazing and is easy to care for, but it is also pet-friendly and air purifying.
