About Lil' String of Pearls

A string of pearls has long been the epitome of elegance and class, but pearl necklaces don't come cheap! Prickle has a more budget-friendly option that will bring a touch of that same class to your home - the String of Pearls Plant! The trailing Senecio Rowleyanus plant is made up of little balls all the way down the stem that resembles, you guessed it, a string of pearls!

The String of Pearls plant enjoys a regular trim to remove any dead beads. This fast-growing trailing plant will reach a maximum length of 1m, but you can trim it shorter if you wish. The string of beads care is nice and simple too because they are succulent plants, they rarely need watering, only when the soil is dry. In fact, they can go for 2-3 weeks without water. If they get too much water, or the water isn't draining, then their beads may turn mushy.

This Southwest African native is a total sun lover, so keep it in bright, indirect sunlight in temperatures between 13-24°C. Be sure to keep little Pricklettes away from your pearl plant as they may be tempted to pick off and nibble on the beads, but they are toxic to children and pets.

At Prickle, we are always here to hear you! Send us your String of Pearls questions @prickleplantsuk.
