About Lil' African Mask Plant

This baby version of the Alocasia Polly is a diva, its striking foliage that earned it the African Mask Plant nickname looks adorable in miniature! Given the name, you'd think this Prickle plant was from Africa, however, this baby plant is from South America.

The Alocasia Amazonica is best suited for a warm, tropical environment (temperatures between 18-26°C), ideally in your kitchen or bathroom. Give it bright, indirect sunlight where it will be happiest. If it is looking a little sad and not already in there, pop your Polly plant in the bathroom for a spa day to refresh it. It also loves to be regularly misted and watered. Overwatering will lead to yellow leaves, while underwatering or scorching will cause them to brown.

If your African Mask's leaves are falling off, it is likely dormant, so you should also reduce the amount you're watering it. Although Polly Pocket toys are child-friendly, your Polly plant is not. Keep little Pricklettes away as it is toxic to children and pets.

At Prickle, we are always here to hear you! Send us your African Mask baby plant questions @prickleplantsuk.
