About Kentia Palm

Howea Forsteriana is named after its origin - Lord Howe Island, Australia. More commonly known as Kentia Palm, this Prickle Plant is super laid back and will forgive you if you forget about it for a few weeks. No wonder its part of our low-maintenance, easy to care for range.

To further prove how easy going it is, the Thatch Palm is more than happy to live with anyone - children, animals, or otherwise! They're even relaxed about the temperature and can handle it as low as 13°C (but they do prefer 16-24°C if possible). While the Kentia Palm is a tall houseplant (max 3m) they won't put you out by growing too quickly either.

Kentia Palm care is (as you may have guessed by now) nice and simple too, regularly water and mist them and keep them in bright, indirect sunlight. They can handle some shade and their leaves will actually bleach if they get too much sun. Don't worry if your palm plant has brown tips on its leaves, doesn't mean they're sad, it’s actually perfectly normal, so just trim them to keep it looking amazing.

At Prickle, we are always here to hear you! Send us your Kentia Palm questions @prickleplantsuk.
