Although the Footstool Palm is pet friendly, its leaves have sharp edges. Be careful when handling them and watch out if your pet is investigating them.

About Footstool Palm

The Footstool Palm has been dealt the short straw when it comes to cuddles. This laid-back Prickle Plant just wants to be everyone’s friend (humans and animals alike) and yet we sadly must keep our distance from it as it has sharp edges and thorny stems!

As it comes from hot and humid South-East Asia, the Footstool Palm likes a similar environment to keep them happy. Put them in a warm, humid room (18-24°C, min 13°C) in bright, indirect sunlight. Make sure you regularly water and mist them too. The Fan Palm loves being misted so much that its leaves may brown if it isn't getting enough.

You can also keep your spiky pal happy and looking great by regularly trimming any brown leaves to encourage new growth. The Footstool Palm will look great in any home, as they are slow growers you won't have to worry about finding it a new home every few months.

At Prickle, we are always here to hear you! Send us your Footstool Palm questions @prickleplantsuk.
