About Champion's Wood Fern
The Champion's Wood Fern, scientifically known as Dryopteris championii, is a hardy and elegant fern that brings lush greenery to shaded areas of your garden. This fern is known for its beautiful, glossy fronds that grow in a graceful, arching habit, creating a serene and naturalistic look in any garden setting.
Champion’s Wood Fern is native to East Asia and is well-suited for cool, shaded environments, making it an excellent choice for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as a ground cover under trees. This slow-growing fern is also perfect for adding texture and depth to your outdoor spaces.
The Dryopteris championii prefers moist, well-drained soil and benefits from regular watering, particularly during dry periods. It thrives in shaded or partially shaded locations, where its vibrant green fronds can maintain their lush appearance throughout the growing season. Mulching around the base of the plant helps to conserve soil moisture and keeps the roots cool, promoting healthy growth.
At Prickle, we're passionate about helping you nurture every plant in your garden. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us @prickleplantsuk.
