The nickname Butterfly Palm comes from its upwards curving foliage. In comparison to other palms, the Areca Palm's leaves stay pointing upwards.

About Areca Palm

There is something special about a palm plant that brings a living room or bedroom to life. They can grow up to 10 metres tall, but thankfully they are slow growers, so you don't need to panic about them getting too big.

The Areca Palm is a pet-friendly house plant, air purifying, and a sun lover, so keep it in bright, indirect light. Their beautiful upward curving foliage has earned this tall indoor plant the nickname Butterfly Palm. Part of our low-maintenance collection, the Areca Lutescens will forgive you if you forget about them for a while. It likes temperatures between 15-26°C and a good drink when the first 5 cm of soil are dry. Keep your Butterfly Palm happy by recreating its jungle home with a regular misting.

If their leaves start to brown, it has had too much sunlight or some extra misting. Move it to a more humid room like the bathroom for a few days while it recovers. The leaves of your Areca Palm will naturally start to brown at the tips with age. Don't be tempted to prune the brown spots, leave them be and let your Palm age gracefully.
