About Cycad

Regularly turn your Cycas to allow it to grow evenly in the sunlight, otherwise, it may become misshapen. The Cycas Revoluta palm is iconic for its thick trunk. The indoor Sago Palm is a total sun lover so it wants to be kept in bright, indirect sunlight in temperatures between 16-24°C (no lower than 13°C). In fact, it loves the sun so much it will desperately strain towards it, so make sure you turn your Cycas regularly so it grows evenly and doesn't become misshapen.

Reaching a maximum height of around 90 cm, the Cycas is a slow grower, so you won't have to find a new home quickly. The Japanese Sago Palm is reasonably low maintenance and rarely needs watering, only when it's soil is dry. It is, however, crazy for misting so regularly mist it.

Keep an eye out for signs your Cycas Palm is sad. If you haven't misted it enough, its leaves will start to turn yellow. To keep it really happy, bring it in the bathroom with you when taking a shower or bath so it can have a spa day and enjoy that lovely steam! Keep your Sago Palm away from children and pets as it is toxic.

At Prickle, we are always here to hear you! Send us your Cycas questions @Prickleplantsuk.
